From Geneva Airport the drive crosses the border and follows the A40 motorway along the Arve valley to Cluses, then follows the Giffre valley via Taninges to Samoëns. In normal traffic the drive takes about 1 h 20 for roughly 86 km.
On winter Saturdays, when most chalets and apartments change guests, the roads around Geneva and towards the resorts can be busy, and snowfall slows traffic in the mountains. Your driver plans for this and keeps you informed. For your return flight we usually recommend leaving Samoëns about 3 h before departure on weekdays and about 3 h 30 on winter Saturdays.
