The route from Geneva Airport to Val Thorens

  1. Geneva Airport
  2. Annecy
  3. Albertville
  4. Moûtiers
  5. Val Thorens
≈ 2 h 20154 kmfrom €216

From Geneva Airport the drive heads south on the A41 towards Annecy, continues to Albertville and follows the N90 expressway up the Tarentaise valley to Moûtiers. From there the road climbs the Belleville valley past Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Les Menuires to Val Thorens. In normal traffic the drive takes about 2 h 20 for roughly 154 km.

On winter Saturdays, when most chalets and apartments change guests, the roads around Geneva and towards the resorts can be busy, and snowfall slows traffic in the mountains. Your driver plans for this and keeps you informed. For your return flight we usually recommend leaving Val Thorens about 4 h before departure on weekdays and about 4 h 30 on winter Saturdays.

Private transfer. The fastest and most comfortable option: you leave as soon as you land, nobody else is in the vehicle, and you are dropped at your own door. For a family or a group of friends, the fixed price per vehicle often costs less per person than individual tickets.

Shared shuttle. Cheaper for one or two travellers, but you share the minibus with other passengers, may wait at the airport until the shuttle is full and stop at several addresses along the way.

Bus. Seasonal coaches link Geneva Airport with the main resorts, mostly on winter weekends. You then need a taxi or a walk with your luggage from the bus stop to your accommodation.

Train. There is no direct train from Geneva Airport to Val Thorens: you would travel with at least one change to Moûtiers and continue by bus or taxi, which takes much longer than the road.

Rental car. Possible, but in winter you need winter tyres or chains, parking in Val Thorens is limited and often paid, and the car usually stays parked for most of your stay.

About Val Thorens

The resort is almost entirely ski-in, ski-out, with direct access to the whole of Les 3 Vallées and to the glaciers around the Cime Caron. Its altitude usually guarantees good snow from late November to early May.

Val Thorens is popular with families and groups of friends for its compact, car-free centre, its snow park and its lively après-ski. The last part of the road climbs the Belleville valley past Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Les Menuires.

Frequently asked questions — Geneva Airport to Val Thorens transfer

How long is the transfer from Geneva Airport to Val Thorens?

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

Per vehicle. The price is the same whether you travel alone or with 8 people, so a private transfer is often cheaper per person than a shared shuttle for families and groups.

Where will the driver meet me at Geneva Airport?

In the arrivals hall, after baggage claim and customs. Your driver holds a sign with your name and helps you with your luggage to the vehicle.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Add your flight number when booking: we follow your flight and keep an eye on any delay. Up to 60 minutes of waiting after your booked pick-up time is included, plus 15 minutes of courtesy time. For longer delays we wait as long as our schedule allows, charged at €60 per hour; if the driver cannot stay, we contact you and arrange the best solution together.

Yes, baby seats, child seats and boosters are free of charge. Please indicate the age of each child in your booking.

Do you operate at night or very early in the morning?

Yes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for both arrivals and departures. A small night supplement applies to late-night pick-ups and is always shown before you pay.

How early should I leave Val Thorens for my return flight?

We recommend leaving about 4 h before your flight on weekdays and about 4 h 30 on winter Saturdays, when traffic is heavier.

Can I pay on board?

Yes. You can pay securely online when booking or pay the driver on board. Contact us if you need an invoice for your company.

Do you operate outside the ski season?

Yes, we drive to Val Thorens all year round — for summer holidays, events and business trips.

Is the road to Val Thorens difficult in winter?

The last section climbs to 2,300 m, so snowfall can slow traffic. Our drivers know the road well and our vehicles are equipped for winter mountain conditions.
