From Val Thorens the road goes back down via Moûtiers, Albertville, Annecy to the Swiss border and Geneva Airport (A41 motorway and N90 expressway, then the Belleville valley road). In normal traffic the drive takes about 2 h 20 for roughly 154 km.
Winter Saturdays are the busiest day: most chalets change guests and traffic towards Geneva can be heavy. Bus. Seasonal coaches run from the main resorts to Geneva Airport, mostly on winter weekends, but you first have to get to the bus stop with all your luggage.
Train. There is no direct train from Geneva Airport to Val Thorens: you would travel with at least one change to Moûtiers and continue by bus or taxi, which takes much longer than the road.

The resort is almost entirely ski-in, ski-out, with direct access to the whole of Les 3 Vallées and to the glaciers around the Cime Caron. Its altitude usually guarantees good snow from late November to early May.
Val Thorens is popular with families and groups of friends for its compact, car-free centre, its snow park and its lively après-ski. The last part of the road climbs the Belleville valley past Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Les Menuires.
